It is a solvent-based, black primer that reacts with air humidity to create a thin coating. This coating acts as a connector between substrates and adhesives. Sika Primer-209 D has been specially developed for surface preparation before the application of Sika one-component polyurethane adhesives.
Capacity : 250ml
Black colour
This primer can provide excellent adhesion to some plastic substrates without prior surface activation.
SCOPE OF APPLICATION
Sika Primer-209 D is used to improve adhesion to many plastics and paints such as GRP, epoxy resins, PVC, ABS, PMMA, PC, PS and acrylics, alkyds/melamine, powder coatings and heat cure lacquers. Due to the wide variety of plastics, preliminary testing on original substrates under production conditions is mandatory. Manufacturer's advice should be sought and original substrates tested before using Sika Primer-209 D on materials susceptible to stress cracking. This product is only suitable for experienced professional users. Tests should be performed on actual substrates and conditions to ensure adhesion and material compatibility.
APPLICATION METHOD
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from grease, oil, dust and dirt. Adhesion to substrates can be improved by adding or combining surface preparation processes such as matting, cleaning and activation before applying the primer.
App
Shake the container of Sika Primer-209 D vigorously until the mixing balls rattle freely. Continue shaking for another minute and then apply in a thin but opaque layer using a brush or felt or foam applicator. The ideal application and substrate temperature is between 15 °C and 25 °C. Sika Primer-209 D must be applied in one coat only. Care must be taken to ensure that this one layer provides adequate, tight coverage. Consumption and application method depend on the specificity of the substrates. Close the container tightly immediately after each use.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Sika Primer-209 D reacts with moisture. In order to maintain the appropriate quality of the product, it is necessary to close the container with an internal plastic cap immediately after each use. After completing the surface preparation process, the container should be closed with the original cap. The product should be disposed of approximately one month after first opening in case of frequent use, or approximately two months in case of infrequent use. If the product gels, separates ingredients or significantly increases viscosity, it should be disposed of immediately. Never dilute or mix the product with other substances. When used on transparent or translucent substrates such as plastics, etc., adequate UV protection must be provided.
