A package of products enabling, for example, the installation of solar panels ( flexible) on the roof of a camper and other elements such as cable adapters or roof mounts.

The set includes: 1 piece. :

  • Sikaflex 252 300ml - black color - construction glue (with tip)
  • Sika Primer 207 100ml - black color - activating and priming agent
  • Sika Cleaner PCA - sponge for applying Primera
  • Abrasive non-woven fabric - to matt the surface

APPLICATION METHOD

Remember that before applying agents such as primers or glue, the surfaces must be clean, dry and free from grease, oil, dust and dirt.

Additional surface preparation depends on the specific nature of the substrate and is crucial for long-term bonding. Suggestions for surface preparation can be found in the current edition of the appropriate Surface Preparation Guide. It should be taken into account that these suggestions are based on experience and must in each case be verified by tests on the original substrates.

1 - Surface preparation

We start by mattifying the glued surfaces with abrasive non-woven fabric to increase adhesion of the glue.

It is worth securing the areas around our work area with masking tape.

After finishing matting the surface, let's take care of it o cleaning the surface of the dust generated io degreasing .

2 - Surface priming

Sika Primer-207 is used to improve the adhesion of a wide range of substrates, such as float glass, ceramic-coated windows, primer coatings, painted surfaces, cataphoretic coatings and metals.

App

Shake the container before use Sika Primer-207 until the mixing ball rattles freely. Continue shaking for another minute, then apply a thin but opaque layer using the included Sika Cleaner PCA sponges .

The ideal application and substrate temperature is between 15°C and 25°C .

Sika Primer-207 should be applied in one coat only. You should make sure that this one layer provides adequate, tight coverage. Close the container tightly immediately after each use.

After applying the foundation, wait a few minutes for it to evaporate.

3 - Gluing the elements

Sikaflex-252 is a flexible one-component polyurethane adhesive. Suitable for joints subject to dynamic stress. It is suitable for gluing wood, metals, especially aluminum (including anodized), steel sheets (including phosphated, chromated and galvanized), metal primers and paint coatings (2-component systems), ceramic materials and plastics.

App

Sikaflex®-252 can be applied at temperatures between 10°C - 35°C (ambient and product), however changes in reactivity and application properties must be taken into account. The optimal temperature of the substrate and adhesive is between 15 °C and 25 °C .

Please note that the viscosity of the adhesive increases at low temperatures. For easier application, the adhesive should be conditioned at room temperature before use. To ensure uniform joint thickness, it is recommended to apply the adhesive in the form of a triangular path.

Adhesive open time in 23 °C / 50% r.h. is 35 minutes . The open time of the adhesive is much shorter in hot and humid climates. Glued elements must always be connected before the open time expires . You should never glue items after the glue has built a skin.

Additional recommendations:

  • the recommended form of the glue bead is presented in the diagram,
  • the glue path should not extend beyond the area of the glued surfaces,
  • This product is intended for experienced, professional users only,

Smoothing and finishing

Smoothing must be done before the adhesive's open time expires. It is recommended to use Sika® Tooling Agent N for smoothing. Other smoothing agents must be previously tested for suitability and compatibility.

Removal

Uncured Sikaflex®-252 can be removed from tools and equipment with Sika® Remover208 or another suitable solvent. Once hardened, the material can only be removed mechanically. Hands and exposed skin should be washed immediately using hand towels such as Sika® Cleaner-350H or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water. Do not use solvents on the skin.
