LOCTITE SI 5980 is a silicone sealant with very good adhesion to all types of surfaces, such as metals, plastics and their various combinations. It is resistant to low-pressure leak tests when flanged joints are fitted.

Typical applications include: engines, gearboxes, oil pans, timing chain covers, thermostat housings, heat exchangers, pump and transmission housings where good oil resistance and resistance to significant joint movement are needed.

Directions for use

1. For best results, surfaces to be bonded should be cleaned and degreased prior to application.
2. Curing begins when the product is in contact with air, therefore parts should be joined within a few minutes after application of the product.
3. Do not subject the structure to high loads before the product is fully cured (e.g. for seven days).
4. Excess product can be easily wiped off with non-polar solvents.
