Cement adhesive for gluing white and graphite EPS polystyrene boards and making a layer reinforced with mesh in the SoproTherm® Ceramic façade system. For thermal insulation under ceramic and stone cladding, including large-format "slim" stoneware cladding on newly constructed buildings and buildings undergoing thermal modernization. It has the ICiMB National Technical Assessment. Low chromate content in accordance with Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, Annex XVII.

• High adhesion to facade polystyrene and mineral substrates
• With a stable consistency
• Flexible
• Vapor-permeable
• Very easy application

Application:

For gluing white and graphite EPS polystyrene boards and creating a mesh-reinforced layer in façade systems. When using the SoproTherm® Ceramic system, it is possible to use facade claddings with a surface weight of up to 50 kg/m2. It is also recommended to use SoproTherm® KO 294 glue for attaching XPS boards. Also for leveling minor unevenness of mineral substrates and gluing light architectural details, e.g. cornices, rustications, stucco.

Recommended substrates:

Walls made of concrete and lightweight concrete (seasoned for at least 6 months); masonry walls made of aerated concrete, silicate, ceramic blocks, with an even surface and full joints, also covered with Sopro DSF 423/523/RS 623 composite seals.

Features:

Thanks to the use of a technologically advanced recipe, SoproTherm® KO 294 glue has very good adhesion to facade polystyrene and mineral substrates as well as stability on vertical surfaces. It is durable, flexible, resistant to impacts and cyclic freezing and thawing. The high quality of cement, polymers, mineral additives and the purity of the aggregate used provide the SoproTherm® KO 294 adhesive mortar with excellent binding parameters and optimal working parameters.

Substrate preparation:

The substrate must be load-bearing, dry, not frozen, clean, free from dust, formwork oil, paint coatings and other layers that reduce adhesion. Loose, scalded or deaf fragments of the substrate and remnants of previous layers should be removed. Substrates with high or varying absorbency, e.g. cement and cement-lime plasters, walls made of aerated concrete, silicates, expanded clay concrete, etc., should be primed with Sopro S-GRUNT PRO GP 263 or Sopro GD 749 primer. Before starting insulation work in the plinth part the starter strip must be attached.

How to use:

Pour 5.5 - 6.25 liters of water into a clean container, add 25 kg of SoproTherm® KO 294 mortar and mix mechanically until a uniform mass is obtained, without lumps. After the maturing time has elapsed (3 - 5 minutes), mix the mortar thoroughly again. 1. Sticking EPS polystyrene boards SoproTherm® KO 294 glue should be applied to the bottom of the polystyrene boards using the "strip-point" method. The width of the peripheral strip along the edge of the board should be at least 3 cm. Apply 6 - 8 patches of glue evenly on the remaining surface of the polystyrene boards, so that their number covers at least 40% of the board surface (after pressing the board to the substrate, at least 60%) and ensures stable attachment of the board to the wall. Apply SoproTherm® KO 294 glue only to the bottom of the polystyrene boards, never to the substrate. Immediately after applying the adhesive mortar to the bottom of the board, place it against the wall and secure it with a patch to the desired position. It is recommended that the thickness of the adhesive mortar under the board, after pressing, should not exceed 10 mm. Styrofoam boards must be glued maintaining a staggered arrangement of vertical joints. Attention! Bonding of XPS Styrofoam boards - prior sanding is required to roughen the board surface. 2. Implementation of the reinforced layer: SoproTherm® KO 294 glue and Sopro KDA 662 reinforcing mesh. The reinforced layer can be installed 24 hours after gluing the thermal insulation boards. In the case of the SoproTherm® Ceramic system, the reinforced layer should be applied no earlier than after 3 days. The boards should be sanded with sandpaper and then thoroughly cleaned of loose residues. Apply SoproTherm® KO 294 glue evenly to the board surfaces using a suitable metal trowel to a thickness of 2 - 3 mm. Machine application is also possible. Immediately after applying the mortar, spread the Sopro KDA 662 glass fiber mesh and embed it using a metal trowel. Place the mesh on the walls from top to bottom, in vertical strips, keeping an overlap of min. 10 cm. Level the fresh surface of the adhesive mortar and apply it smoothly. The reinforcing mesh must be completely covered with SoproTherm® KO 294 adhesive. The thickness of the finished layer reinforced with the mesh should be 3-5 mm. 3. Doweling In the SoproTherm® Ceramic system, doweling can be started after the mesh-reinforced layer has been completed and initially bonded. Only dowels (mechanical connectors) with a steel pin should be used for doweling. The number, type, arrangement and length of the pins should result from the calculations in the technical design of the insulation. Note: When performing insulation works, as well as subsequent gluing of claddings, the façade should be protected against unfavorable weather conditions such as direct sunlight, rain, frost, wind, e.g. by using appropriate covers on scaffolding.
